The challenge...
  • Create and develop the Vital Signs Camera logo, which fits with the Philips brand, shows breakthrough technology, resonates with users, but is not seen as being too medical.
  • Create and develop the App icon, again to fit with the Philips brand but also to stand out enough in a competitive market,
be attractive to consumers without being seen as too medical.
  • Develop initial concepts for an easy to use and consumer friendly user interface, taking the chosen concept proposal through to final design development. Again the user interface had to have the Philips look and feel, be engaging, not too complex and at the same time not be seen as a medical App but have enough presence to be taken seriously – quite a challenge!
  • Create do’s and don’ts graphics to support the use of the App. These would instruct the user about best practice when using the App to achieve the maximum results in the most efficient manner.

Our solution...
  • A graphical logo was created showing in a friendly, colorful way a representation of the heart and lungs to tie in with heart rate and breathing rate measurement of the App. The colors used related to the measurement phases of the App to create a strong cohesion and consistency. The design was in no way medical related and fitted well with the professional brand image of Philips and the characteristics of trust and caring about personal well-being.
  • The App icon was designed to carry the same graphical style and sit in line with the logo to form part of the set, yet able to stand alone and work in the App market.
  • A simple, easy to use, instructional user interface was created, guiding the user in a step-by step way through the stages of measurement, the results and ‘interpretation’ of the result, the ability to share the results via social media and also understand how it works. The design also took into consideration the ability to carry and safeguard the relevant marketing messages and communication already created
    by Philips.
  • Info-graphical do’s and don’ts were created in a style that was easy to understand and interpret by the user. These graphics were placed on the website www.vitalsignscamera.com/
